Our Explosive Dinner
Last night's dinner will go down in infamy in all of the Bush family journals. It started out with me not feeling like making dinner at all, so I asked Evan if he'd pick up some Chinese food because for some odd reason I was craving egg-drop soup. You'd think that eating all those boiled eggs over the Easter weekend would have made egg-drop soup the last thing I'd want to eat, but no, I really wanted some! So being the wonderful accommodating husband that he is, Evan went and got egg-drop soup and some other Chinese food for him and me and pizza for the kids (picky eaters). We were all sitting down having a calm and nice family dinner when Carson, my 10 year old, grabbed the full 2 liter bottle of orange soda and started shaking it. Evan immediately stopped him and said you should never shake soda because it will explode. While Evan was trying to get the soda from him and explain this, Carson set the soda bottle on the table but it tipped over and started exploding everywhere! Everyone jumped up and started screaming. Carson grabbed the exploding soda bottle and tried to get it to the sink but ran toward the carpet and dropped the exploding bottle on the carpet where it made a large orange puddle with orange drops on the walls and kitchen island. He's lucky I have brown carpet, I love brown carpet with 5 kids! I ran for my carpet shampooer. I got a carpet shampooer 7 years ago for Mother's Day and I have to say it has been my most used Mother's Day Gift ever! lol The girls wiped up the mess on the wood floor while I shampooed the carpet and Carson hid, fearing for his life, he said. When we finally convinced Carson to come out and stop HIS screaming, he mopped the floor and agreed to never ever shake soda in the house again. I just hope that tonight's dinner is a lot less eventful!
